July – Marketing Tools (Traditional)

MONTHLY THEME: LTCi may help retain independence

As we celebrate our nation’s birthday in July, it’s a prime opportunity to remind clients that they need to plan now for how they will maintain their independence in the likely event that they (or someone they love) will need long term care. We also share how care coordination and cash benefit features may help policyholders maintain choices in where they receive care.

Talking points to help discuss maintaining independence:

  • “What activities or hobbies do you enjoy now that you are concerned you may no longer do as you face limitations due to aging? With some assistance many people are still able to pursue many of their interests.”
  • “The operative word should you need care is compromised. By that I mean chronic illnesses can become so debilitating that those who you said you would take care of would have choice but to take care of you.”
  • “Don’t think of extended care as a condition like Parkinson’s or dementia or a place like a nursing home or assisted living. It’s a lifechanging event that would have serious consequences to those you invited into your life and took responsibility for.”
  • “A key feature in most long term care policies is a care coordination service. These specialists help find local resources and coordinate or manage your care plan. They can take a huge administrative burden off of your loved ones.”
  • “Cash or indemnity features in a long term care policy can help pay for services not otherwise covered, including payment to informal caregivers such as family. Let’s discuss how that could play out if you needed care.”
