Genworth: Class Mailing Notification – Haney

This is to provide you with some background regarding a Notice of Pendency of Class Action and Proposed Settlement (“Class Notice”) that was mailed on or about August 1,2022 to policyholders who have been identified as potential members of a settlement class (“Class”) in a lawsuit brought against Genworth Life Insurance Company and Genworth Life Insurance Company of New York (“Genworth”) in the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia (Haney et al. v. Genworth Life Insurance Company, et al., No. 3:22-CV-55-REP). Only policyholders who potentially meet the “Class” definition (which includes certain Choice 2, Choice 2.1, California CADE, California Reprice, and/or California Unbundled long term care insurance policyholders) have been sent the Class Notice mailing.

The Class Notice was mailed to provide policyholders who are potential Class members, notice of the settlement terms and Class members’ legal rights under the settlement. The settlement does not change policyholders’ existing coverage or require them to take any action to remain in the settlement.

The Class Notice directs policyholders who have questions to visit the settlement website, www.Choice2LongTermCareInsuranceSettlement.com, or to call the settlement administrator at 1 (855) 662-0078. The settlement website and the toll-free number contain additional information about the lawsuit and the settlement, including what Class members may potentially receive under the settlement and Class members’ legal rights under the settlement.
