The real scoop on Veterans Benefits and Long Term Care

VA Benefits and Long Term Care – Free Guide

We are extremely thankful for all the sacrifices that our servicemen and women make to protect our freedoms. As such, we want to ensure that they take steps to protect themselves and their loved ones from the devastating impact of a long term care event.

One of the popular misconceptions many veterans have is that the government will automatically provide for their long term care. There are very limited long term care benefits, and to be eligible for those you must meet certain criteria. The Department of Veteran’s Affairs website states:

“Your eligibility for long term care services, provided in any long term care setting, will be determined based on your need for ongoing treatment, personal care, and assistance, as well as the availability of the service in your location. Other factors, such as financial eligibility, your service-connected (VA disability) status, insurance coverage, and/or ability to pay may also apply.”

Help any veterans you serve understand the veterans benefits around long term care. A Place for Mom has created a great guide that walks vets through the criteria and might help some understand that insurance might be a better option. Click here to download.
