Effective June 1, 2012, New York joined the National Reciprocity Compact for the recognition of Medicaid Asset Protection. Reciprocity Compact membership will allow DRA Partnership policyholders who move to New York State to take advantage of dollar-for-dollar asset protection if they later apply to and qualify for New York’s Medicaid program to cover continued care. Similarly New York Partnership policyholders who move to another state that is a member of the Reciprocity Compact will also be eligible for a dollar-for-dollar asset protection regardless of when the policyholder applies to that state’s Medicaid program.
This reciprocity is retroactive to all existing New York Partnership policyholders.
